lake chelan

My friend, Lindsey and I took our babies over to Lake Chelan for the weekend. Mimi came over for a few days too. We weren't expecting sunshine so that was a VERY nice surprise. By some sort of miracle we were able to get both babies on almost the same nap schedule which meant we were able to do lots of fun stuff in between sleeping. You know, during that huge 2 hour period. We took them to the neighborhood pool and Finley wasn't too sure how she felt about the water temperature. The babies also experienced the beach for the first time. Logan pulled at least half the beach on his lap and Finley just motored around the sand as if she was none the wiser to the grainy substance underneath her. However, she perked up when I dipped her toes in the lake...and by "perk up" I mean that she started crying immediately. Maybe the lake will warm up by our next trip over..but thats doubtful. More pics are in the 7 month album!

6 month pictures

As I mentioned earlier, Finley would not crack a smile at her 6 month pictures. That being said, we think they turned out adorable. Thanks so much Judy!

crawling, swinging, and swimming

Quite a bit has happened in the world of Finley over the last week. Friday, she officially became a crawler. It's so precious to watch. But, is she satisfied now that she can motor around the room, you might ask. No. Now she wants to stand all the time. She is so impatient...I wonder where she got that from...
She also went for a ride in a swing for the first time at the park. She had lots of fun, but I think she enjoyed watching other people swing even more. The other exciting event of the weekend was that she went swimming. On Friday she played in a little pool with her buddy Logan. It's a shame she can't wear her swimsuit around all the time because it is the cutest thing EVER! Saturday we took her swimming at the Bellevue Aquatic Center (thats right, we were at in indoor pool on such a gorgeous day). I am VERY bummed because a certain someone (Mimi) forbid me from bringing my camera near the water, so we got a disposable water camera for the memorable occasion. Long story short, the camera was a piece of junk and all the pictures turned out very dark. Oh well. If they had turned out and I was able to post them you would see many pictures of Finley smiling and laughing and having a grand ol' time in the pool. So glad she likes the water, as we will be on vacation this weekend and definitely spending lots of time in the water. Check out the rest of pics in the album...

happy mother's day

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms and Mom-to-be! I sure had a great weekend celebrating my first mother's day. On Saturday we went out to dinner. Mimi came over with the intent of being on night duty so that Brian and I could sleep downstairs in our guest bedroom and enjoy a night of uninterrupted sleep. Turns out, Finley has a set of pipes and I could still hear her despite being on a different floor and opposite end of the house. It was the thought that counts though...thanks Mimi. Bright and early Sunday morning we had an infant dedication class (which is June 1st at 11 if anyone wants to come). Afterwards we stuck around for church and PTL we had more success in the nursery! Then we were off to celebrate with Brian's family. We had a pizza making competition, boys vs. girls. I'm sad to say that the boy's "woo your woman" pizza won by a landslide. We topped off the night by having sundae's with Mimi and Grandpa. As usual, it was a very busy weekend...but oh so much fun. And as a gift to Mama, Finley decided to sleep through the night without making a single peep-the best gift of all!

poor finley

She wants to crawl so bad and she just can't seem to figure it out. However, she is getting really good at her downward facing dog yoga position.

go figure

Today we went and got Finley's pictures taken. Both Grandmas came to try and provoke smiles, but sure enough our happy little baby was as serious as a heart attack. In two hours we got about 3 sort-of smiles. But as soon as that little hinney hit the car seat she was full of grins. I swear, that daughter of mine is more stubborn than Brian and I put together-which is saying A LOT!

HELP!

This morning at church Finley was in a particularly playful mood so we decided to give the nursery a try. I took her downstairs and dropped her off and headed back upstairs with my pager. About five minutes later my ears perked up. I went downstairs just to peak on Finley and sure enough she was hysterical. Now, let me remind you that the sanctuary is on another floor. How I heard her is beyond me...must be a sixth sense. So here's my predicament. How do you respond to child that is scared when you're away? I don't want her to be fearful, but I also don't want to raise a child that is such a "mama's girl". Oh, and it's not just strangers. She won't anyone hold her except her Papa, Mimi and I. The rest of the family is praying that this is a stage and so I am. Please give me some advice!

weekend fun

This weekend was jam packed. Brian was in a wedding,we hung out with friends, Finley and I went to a wedding shower for our cousin Lisa, we hung out with more friends, went to church, went to a birthday lunch for Brian's mom, and then had some fun out in our yard. Here's some pictures of the craziness...

Having some fun in the car.

Finley scooted herself all the way off her blanket and across the hardwood.

Loving that can pull herself up...

Playing bocce ball with mama and papa (mama won by the way)
